It provides a brief introduction to the many types of Western music from the Middle Ages to the 20th century, based on instrumentation and vocal practices: music of the Middle Ages (450-1450); Renaissance music (1450-1600); Baroque music (1600-1750); Classical music (1750-1820); and 20th century music (1900s).
