Course Overview

Residential surveying is a well-respected profession with many rewards. Using expert knowledge, typically, it is the role of a residential surveyor to assess the condition of a residential property and provide an impartial report to the client. The Certificate is a vocationally related qualification, meaning it gives you the skills and knowledge to be a well-rounded residential surveyor. The Certificate is delivered part-time and is delivered in two parts – training and assessment.

Key features:

  • A vocational qualification to enable existing property professionals to gain knowledge on residential construction and pathology
  • Training material and course training days delivered by industry leaders
  • Provides in-depth training with limited assessment

Types of commercial/residential surveyor

As well as specialising in either commercial or residential property, you'll also usually specialise further in one of the following areas:
  • consultancy
  • development
  • investment
  • management
  • planning
  • investigation
Assessment Once the training is complete, you will then produce a portfolio of evidence for assessment. This will include 3 condition reports so that you can demonstrate your technical knowledge, as well as written tasks to assess your business and interpersonal skills. How long does it take? The training takes 6-9 months, and once this is complete you move onto assessment. The assessment should take between 2 months to complete the online portal.
