Description
The course prepares the student to be able to make effective learning of basic soil mechanics. The course should have the prerequisite of mechanics of solids/strength of materials course. Topics covered in this course include Engineering Geology of Soils and their Formation, Classification of Soils, Soil Compaction, Soil Permeability, Seepage and In-situ Stresses, Consolidation, Shear Strength of Soil, and Earth Pressure Theories.
