Overview
This module should be completed after the Work safe in the workplace - General work health and safety module. The building and construction module will build upon knowledge gained in the general work health and safety module and provide participants with a greater understanding and knowledge of hazards and issues in the building and construction industry. The building and construction industry includes a range of work activities such as:- setting up working platforms and temporary power sources;
- safe operation and maintenance of equipment including hand tools, portable power tools and specialist tools;
- taking measurements and site levels;
- performing site calculations;
- preparing sites and pouring and finishing concrete pads;
- working with internal partitioning; and,
- other trade services like plastering, painting and tiling.
