Bachelor of Early Childhood Education

The degree aims to develop early childhood teachers who can integrate theoretical knowledge into practical education and core skills in the workplace. As well as learning the skills required of an early childhood teacher, the graduates will study child development and pedagogical practices, welfare, ethics, diversity and social justice. The graduates will also develop knowledge and skills in management, leadership and advocacy which will extend the range of employment opportunities they will have on graduation. The primary aims of the programme are:

PA1: Introduce students to the fundamentals of early childhood learning. PA2: Nurture future teachers who are responsive to the needs of teaching to children in their early childhood PA3: Develop students to be competent individuals; equipped with teaching proficiency and other necessary skills to teach effectively. PA4: Expose students to the issues of contemporary childhood education. PA5: Cultivate students to become responsible individuals with integrated personality who can become role models to the future generation.

After completion of this course the students will develop skills in teaching children between 0-8 years of age. The graduates would be qualified to find work as educators in various subjects of Science, Commerce and basic learning. They will also find jobs in as educational counsellors, pre-school teachers, curriculum and instructor positions in various educational organizations, and be involved in the analysis and planning of educational activities in the organizations.

With an education degree, the graduates will be job-ready before they graduate thanks to the extensive experience they will gain teaching in a classroom. They will be ready to work both locally and overseas in a profession with increasing demand around the world. Job title:

Organizations employing education graduates: Graduates can find employment in a public or private kindergarten or primary school.

Entry Requirements :

1. A pass in Certificate of Higher Education Malaysia (STPM) with a minimum of Grade C (GP 2.00) in any two subjects or its equivalent; OR
2. A pass in Higher Religion of Malaysia (STAM) with a minimum Grade of Jayyid: OR
3. A pass in Matriculation/ Foundation or its equivalent with minimum CGPA 2.00; OR
4. A Diploma in Early Childhood Education (MQF Level 4) or it's equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.00; OR
5. A Diploma (Level 4 MQF) in any field or it is equivalent with a minimum CGPA 2.00: OR
6. Any relevant qualifications recognize by the Malaysian government.

 Credit transfer and recognition of prior learning We accept a diverse range of qualifications; this includes considering prior learning as credit towards your OpenCoursa & partner degree. This means you can apply to be exempt from taking certain modules on your York degree if you have previous relevant qualifications or experience.  This policy applies to all undergraduate and postgraduate taught (MBA, MSc, MA, PG Dip, PG Cert and PhDs ) applicants, including those from anywhere. This can be used in two ways: Prior certificated learning (formal qualifications) at a level equivalent to higher education credit Experiential learning where your work experience and non-certificated learning can be recognized.
