Course Description

The following topics are covered:

  2. The leadership disciplines
  • Personal mastery and leadership
  • Mental models and the “blueprint” health strategy
  • Systems thinking and the health production system
  • Shared vision and creating a healthier future Team learning and the learning organization
Learning Objectives On completion of these lectures, the students will be able to:
  1. Describe the differences between leadership and management
  2. Discuss the importance of self-reflection to clarify one’s values and purpose in life
  3. Explain how one’s mindset (mental models) shapes the reality that one observes
  4. Describe the key elements in the household health production system
  5. Distinguish between the blueprint approach and the learning process approach to introducing changes in the health system
  6. Describe the key elements in the learning process approach to transforming the health production system
  7. Discuss the importance of engaging stakeholders at every level in coalitions to generate a shared vision of a better future
